UNHOLY DISORDER

[Something is wrong with the room you are in.

At first blush, it seems normal enough. It's nicely furnished, lavish dark oak, brass and a rich green drapery and carpet. Except in the middle of the room, a simple glass box sits wrapped in chains. Inside, a heart rocks back and forth as it beats, chambers constricting and relaxing around air.

But the more you look around, you might notice that the rafters beyond the brass lamps are made of bone, spine connecting them all. You might notice that the binding on all of the books seems to be an unusual leather. You might notice that teeth have been used as nails.

You almost can't help but notice the strange ... give... under your feet. Whatever is under the carpet seems almost spongy.

You know, instinctively, that the heart is in danger.

But so are you.]

... I think there's too many guys on this ship? That asking if they're a girl this time is honestly better. But the amnesia one might be okay.

The best way to win games with yes/no questions is to ask compound questions.

Like, "Does this heart belong to somebody who is a male or whose name appears after 'M' in the alphabet?"

If we try to escape, they might count it as cheating and penalise us, whether it works or not.

Hm... the alphabet idea might work, but we only have three questions, so it's going to be tough. Male or female might be a better first question...

Twenty is probably okay? I feel like twenty-five might be too high just because more people seem around there.

"Belongs to a family who suffered injuries during wed, bed, behead" is another simple way to split groups.

What about "Does this person come from a family whose name is somewhere between A-H, excluding 'the' in the name".

That could help split the families up.

... I like that one a lot actually. Cause that's only four families.

Re: DISCUSSION

Well, yeah, asking either way it's a yes or a no so we'll know, just, we can't ask "are you a boy or a girl" because the answer is yes.

The amnesia one is kinda high risk high reward so we might want to save it for after we've narrowed things down. I think... most of the amnesiacs I know about who are on this list are dudes? But I don't know all of them.

Re: DISCUSSION

I just worry that since there's so many more men or individuals who identify as male here on the ship, it won't narrow down quick enough. If they're female, it will. But if it's a dude, we got a lot more narrowing to do.

I think we should try and narrow some of the families out first, and if we think we've got it figured out between a few families, and if they've got some chicks on them, we could always try that route with a later question?

[ Anxiety on your own is One Thing. But unfortunately when you've big bro-zoned one person (Forte) and your other family members are also Full of the Stress right now and you have a blessing that reacts to both of those things... It's not as many voices as the room outside but he's definitely a lot more still as he tries to think things through. ]

Okay, so identifying questions for one out of fifty people. Not hard.

[ definitely hard ]

I also like that one. I think it's less likely to get nixed than some of the more obvious questions, too.

Yeah, less like 'boo! this is the heart of someone you murdered and now you feel mega-guilty!' or whatever. Ha. Who has ideas like that.

That is a good one, yeah - if it's Family names that's only a few options. And we can narrow it down from there more easily.

Yeah, I think twenty is a good split. I feel like most people here are 21 and above, but there's still some 20-year-old outliers. And Heron's 19.

I kind of like your idea earlier regarding Wed, Bed, and Behead as our opener. I think it's a good way of narrowing things down.

Yeah, it's a basic kind of filtering question but with the group we've got, it's not so useful right now. I'm good with shelving it for later.

They aren't mutually exclusive. If the answer is 'no' we've basically gotten two pieces of information with one question.
