Phoenix

OBVIOUSLY REWRITE/DO THINGS AS YOU NEED I JUST WROTE MORE TO TRY TO GIVE OYU CONTEXT BECAUSE BILLY'S LIFE IS STUPID TY

Character Billy Maximoff / William Kaplan (he does have two!, three if we count "Billy Kaplan" since that's his mental merger/MCU does mention it Once) AKA Phoenix
Family Unholy Disorder

A Place of Significance The Witches Road: A dark and foggy road with gnarly trees. The moon is large in the sky and the leaves, pulsing veins, and fog itself are tinged an electric blue in color. There's plenty of foilage to look at but you get the idea that stepping off the path covered in blue leaves is bad, because doing so is! Quick sand that will quickly drag others in are just outside of the walking path. Ominous animal sounds can be heard - but the observant can tell it's as if on a "loop" - and short of a few bugs no life can actually be found.

Meaning => The Witches Road was made by Billy and while it's made based on the Road's lore it's also formed and influenced by his psyche. While it's representative of his love of witchcraft and magical things, it can also be representative of a darker side of him.

2 Items of Significance these should be small enough to be HELD and with defining features easily recognizable to the characters. Something like "A well-worn coin with the face of a mermaid on one side, and on the other, a hatless man."
1. The Magician tarot card (the specific one in the image!)
Meaning => When Lilia gives Billy a reading she tells him that he is the Magician, filled with enormous potential and the ability to make any of his goals of reality (nudgenudge, hinthint, because he's a lil reality warper that can do just that). This signifies his magical capability and capacity, love, and fear of his own magic. Fear of his own magic is a theme I've been playing with ICly quite a bit, so that's possibly highlighted in the understanding that he feels dangerous and has too much power.

2. A sigil: a small piece of wood that has a specific design painted atop of it.
Meaning => The sigil is representative of Billy's identity and trying to discover who he is. It's used canonically to "hide him from other witches," and makes it so his name can't be heard. For Billy who remembered nothing of who he was and found it after him after a fatal car crash, he kept it on him until he broke it as a signifier of "who he was" or who he needed to find out who he was.

2 People of Significance
1. Tommy Maximoff - in this case he'll appear as AU version and not [ whatever the MCU will be ] in that he'll be identical to Phoenix except with white hair and green eyes.
Meaning => Twin brother. Tommy was the only name that Billy could remember when he was reincarnated and he was able to sense he was "somewhere out there, but never find him". Finding Tommy was as important to him as finding himself and his journey on the road was to find what was missing (Tommy).

2. William Kaplan
Meaning => The person who should be alive right now, the one he feels like he replaced. The one he's masqueraded as for three years in an effort to spare his parents who he loves as his own. William Kaplan is someone he can never actually be - not the way he was, even if their souls are intertwined. But he gave up his identity to be William Kaplan, but he's a William who's never even known who that was before. In a way this also signifies his approach to modern "Phoenix," who's done a lot to try and be what people want/expect him to be. William is mostly representative of his desire to protect others and be what they need him to be, but also the person he can never be,

3 Items of Significance These can be any size!
1. Does a crashed car work or - specifically a car that looks like it was recently wrapped around a tree and is still smoking. Blood in the backseat (is there still a body? we'll leave that to ajs to decide, but if there is it's younger william / phoenix okok)
Meaning => (: The place where William died and Billy reincarnated. Word of god is it's when they became two souls intertangled together but the MCU is being buttheads.

2. a pocket spellbook. a leather cover engraved with the phases of the moon. the title page is "a witch's toolkit". the text is tiny against small pages, made tinier by handwritten notes alongside every page
Meaning => His training wheels. Another fixture of his love of magic, but specifically witchcraft. Not real power, but in the community and acts of magic itself. The love of this is what connects William and Billy.

3. A simple bracelet with engraved dragons when worn it gives you a telepathic link to another person,
Meaning =>
A bracelet he won from PPP and gave to Gingham as a present in a move he thought was "fair" but Gingham said later it was one of the best presents he'd received. This act and knowledge is super important to Phoenix on a variety of levels. Namely, his personal tele-mpathy has always been a spot that caused internal conflict (Billy/Phoenix will always default to what others need him to be and because of that he's always tended to be a little bit of a liar/performer, so he tries not to be with the other and this has grown to doing the same for others). Secondly, that in the AU when this ability was found out very early into his "adoption", it was abused by people he should have been able to trust. In this case, why wouldn't a criminal organization want to try to find a use for it in getting answers out of people (in this case via sticking a kid next to a torture room and telling him to give them what he hears, dwbi).

SO. Phoenix rarely told anyone before the ship about it and tended to hide a lot of himself. The ship was the first time someone said they wanted him to be him and liked his telepathy and that expanded to him being more open about it to the people he cared about. He's still wary of telling strangers, but given the people he has told have (mostly) not made him feel bad or tried to do anything it's made him feel a little more at home in himself.

Since it's replacing a [wedding ring that I'm like AAAH about] because the above stuff also made him feel at home in his own skin, like he's found family on the ship (with people who accept this part of him), and a willingness/determination to live in this life and not forget the rest/other possible selves, it still carries some of the same implications in that there is a desire to never let someone feel alone.

This item then represents trust, love, honesty, and has the feeling of no matter what we'll never (have to) be alone.

Five Emotions You Want Your Character to Experience The more specific the better. Like "Fear of being lonely" is mid but "Fear of an empty house, everyone they know is dead except their parents who once supported them now turning their back on them because they're the Anti-Messiah." is better.
1. The feeling of being in the wrong body and the guilt that, no matter what you do, you will never be their son. Even if you do your best to become him. You should not exist.
2. The opposite of the above feeling - and because the above is a "normal" feeling if possible more intense - You are you, you feel whole and without the weight of a life you didn't choose. This is your life and you are loved and you accept that love.
3. The feeling of watching everything from above and writing history in all directions, creating worlds, and it feels right and like you're in control as the master of reality. A moment of tapping into this power and then deciding you're not ready - it's not time. Yet, but you will be one day.
4. The fear that the life before you cannot be real because at some point you may have altered the perceptions of yourself and others without ever knowing it. Can they actually, ever, truly love you if you can just make them?
5. Love and acceptance, as your parents choose to love you as you are. They may mourn they son they lost - that you replaced - but you are another gift. You are also their son and they love you. (thanks actors).

5 Anything Elses This is basically anything else you wanna include. A pet. Another location. A memory. Another item. A feeling, a dream, a specific scenario. A sin, a regret, an event. Once again, detail/significance/etc is useful!
1. Honestly, IDK how it's working, but if any of the above feelings can be inflicted on others that's 👍
2. Technically, Billy's destiny has already been hinted at in the MCU to def fall in line with the comics and he's getting comic influence here so IDK something with, "Destined to become the sentient lifeforce of the universe", "set the stars into motion". Either in words or feelings because he is already considered an overflowing pool of life energy.
3. An experience: Being able to hear the thoughts of others around you, but specifically bolstered by emotion. The more intense the emotion the more intense the thoughts and feelings are for you. (: Please use this for the most chaotic options. PREFERABLY FOR OTHERS SOMEHOW since this is Phoenix's default.
4. A feeling/event: I wish I could be someone better. You are told you are dangerous and a threat. You KNOW the power you hold does make you dangerous. It wraps around you, the fear that other people have. You wish you were someone better.
5. Finally, a memory that brings it altogether (cw: for death via car crash, blood, and body dysphoria by literally changing bodies)
