You find yourselves in a surprisingly sterile room. It's entirely white, almost blindingly so. There are a few beanbag chairs to sit on, though perhaps not enough for your entire family. On one of the walls, there's a laminated poster of a wheel. At the center of the room is a table with a glass case on top. If you lift the case, you'll find a single red button. Behind a glass panel on the wall is a monitor that is currently off.

Curiously, it does not seem as though you can actually destroy anything in this room (save for a simple note by the button), regardless of how much you may try. The glass will never shatter. The poster cannot be torn into pieces. Furthermore, your blessings and powers are off and none of your personal belongings are actually on your person.

A simple note lays by the button on the table, a reminder of your directive: Will you push the button?

One, I don't think it's worth sparing ourselves one of two punishments at the cost of pissing off another Family, if we have a choice about it.

Two, I think the fewer buttons get pressed, the less harm goes around anyway...her rules are a little unclear, but still.

Three, I don't feel like providing free entertainment to someone who ate my arm last time. I'd much rather be petty and boring.

Is not pressing the button going to be boring for her? It feels like that's something you're decided without asking her opinion. Though you might know her better than me.

Well, the last time she ran a performance, multiple people's hearts were torn out and the room itself attempted to devour us messily.

So I think her desire is for us to push the button and cause another rain of gore, or take pleasure in the psycheout if the punishments turn out to be harmless, yes.

He's really not incorrect. I don't want to feel responsible for hurting others, or be perceived as a group that's ready to take that option at every opportunity the Producers force us into. And I'm very much not afraid of being hurt myself. So in that regard I am fully being selfish and asking my Family members to take the consequence with me.

[stops himself, looks away, and takes a few long seconds to compose himself]

I'm not especially interested in giving you what you want, in that regard.

Then I am sorry I am trying to enforce something you do not like. But it won't make me give up the attempt.

If you won't give up the attempt then you aren't that sorry.

No, I'm quite sorry. I don't like seeing Family hurt. I don't like seeing you hurt. I care about you very much.

[laughs like he very much does not believe him]
